Developing and testing your safety skills could mean the difference between life and death for you, a family member or a friend when disaster hits.
Learn First Aid and CPR
Learn CPR and other basic first aid. Contact a chapter of the American Red Cross for information about CPR and first aid classes. Becoming CPR certified through the American Red Cross limits liability if additional harm to the victim occurs.
Learn to Use a Fire Extinguisher
Store at least one ABC fire extinguisher in your home or business and ensure family members and employees understand how to operate it.
Since people often panic during fires, spend time learning how to use and maintain fire extinguishers. Once you’re comfortable using a fire extinguisher, teach your children and others living in your home how to use one. Local fire departments often sponsor fire extinguisher training programs.
